Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, accompanied by his wife Emine Erdoğan and their delegation, made a historic visit to Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, where they visited and cared for sick children at the Wardhigley Camp. During the visit, Erdoğan requested assistance from the Somali government to transfer the children in need of urgent medical attention to the Turkish hospital in Mogadishu for treatment.
The Prime Minister’s visit marked a significant moment in Turkey-Somalia relations, symbolizing solidarity and commitment to Somalia’s recovery. Erdoğan’s engagement with the children, alongside Somali President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, underscored Turkey’s dedication not only to humanitarian aid but also to building long-term partnerships with Somalia.
Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Şahin, who was also part of the delegation, emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive support for vulnerable children affected by famine and conflict. She highlighted plans for additional social assistance and health programs to help Somali families rebuild their lives.
This visit further strengthened ties between the two countries and demonstrated Turkey’s readiness to stand by Somalia in its time of need, offering both immediate relief and long-term development assistance.
