The Barbaros Turkish Naval Task Group, which departed from Çanakkale on March 18 and has visited 21 African countries over the past two and a half months, has arrived in Somalia.

As part of its mission to increase the visibility of Turkish naval power, operate in international waters, and strengthen relations with African nations, the task group’s vessels—TCG Heybeliada, TCG Oruç Reis, TCG Gediz, and TCG Yarbay Kudret Güngör—docked at the Port of Mogadishu.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, along with an accompanying delegation, attended the welcoming ceremony and toured the Turkish naval vessels.
