In a show of support for Türkiye’s elected government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the failed coup attempt, the Somali government suspended the operations of institutions linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) on July 16.
Among the closed institutions were schools operating under the Nile Academy umbrella and the Deva International Education and Research Hospital (pictured). Employees of these institutions were given a one-week deadline to leave the country, which has since passed, and they have now departed Somalia.
The Somali government reiterated its strong support for Türkiye’s democratic institutions and condemned all efforts to undermine them.
