Derince, March 13, 2013 (Anadolu Agency – Tahir Turan Eroğlu) — The Turkish Red Crescent, which has been conducting humanitarian operations in famine-stricken Somalia for nearly two years, is preparing to send vital aid aboard a ship departing from Derince Port.
The shipment includes 5,000 tons of sugar, 5,000 tons of flour, a concrete batching plant, and a paving stone machine. In a statement, Utku Çalım, Head of International Programs at the Turkish Red Crescent, announced that aid packages will also be distributed to 2,700 families in need across Somalia.
