Somalis expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Turkish people during a special event titled “Gratitude to Türkiye from the Somali People,” held in the capital, Mogadishu. The event recognized Türkiye’s unwavering support since 2011, including billions of dollars in humanitarian and development aid.

Organized by the Mogadishu Governor’s Office, the program was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Mogadishu, Olgan Bekar, who delivered a speech highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.

A photograph from the event includes the late Mayor of Mogadishu, Abdirahman Omar Osman, who was later killed in an Al-Shabaab attack. His presence at the event symbolized Somalia’s appreciation for Türkiye’s support and his own dedication to rebuilding the country.
