The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that 150 Somali military personnel are undergoing “Basic Commando Training” in Türkiye as part of the Military Training and Cooperation Agreement between Türkiye and Somalia.

The training is being conducted at the Counter-Terrorism Training and Exercise Center Command in Isparta. According to the MSB, the program aims to strengthen Somalia’s defense capacity by equipping its soldiers with advanced tactical and operational skills in counter-terrorism and commando operations.

The Ministry emphasized that the initiative reflects the strong military cooperation between the two countries and Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to supporting the reconstruction and professionalization of the Somali Armed Forces.

This training is part of a broader strategic partnership between Türkiye and Somalia that encompasses defense, security, and humanitarian assistance, further deepening their bilateral ties.
