A welcoming ceremony was held at Mogadishu Port for the arrival of Türkiye’s domestically developed Oruç Reis Seismic Research Vessel, marking a significant step in bilateral energy cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia.
The arrival of the vessel comes within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The agreement enables Türkiye to conduct onshore and offshore oil and natural gas exploration in Somalia. The Oruç Reis vessel will begin seismic surveys to identify hydrocarbon potential, reinforcing energy ties between the two nations and contributing to Somalia’s resource development and energy future.
