Under Türkiye’s mediation, the first round of technical negotiations in the “Ankara Process” between Somalia and Ethiopia was held in Ankara.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted separate meetings with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos and Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Mohamed Omar during their visits to the Turkish capital for the talks.
The meetings aimed to facilitate diplomatic dialogue and resolve ongoing tensions between the two Horn of Africa nations. Türkiye’s role in hosting the negotiations reflects its commitment to fostering regional peace and cooperation in East Africa.
