Elementary school students 9-year-old Cengiz Köse and 10-year-old Yusuf Buyruk had their hair cut into a style symbolizing Somali-Turkish friendship and solidarity, aiming to draw attention to child deaths caused by hunger and disease in Somalia. The two young boys said the information their families shared about the tragedy in Somalia played a big role in inspiring their gesture, and they emphasized that everyone should support this solidarity in their own way.
Barber Ercan Buyruk, who spent six hours creating the boys’ unique haircuts, expressed his happiness at being part of this effort. The boys’ haircuts attracted great interest from residents in Yenimahalle.
