Turkey’s Ambassador to Mogadishu, Cemalettin Kani Torun, stated that Turkish Airlines’ initiation of direct flights to Somalia will be beneficial for the country in many ways.

Torun said at a press conference held at the embassy regarding the Turkish Airlines flights to Somalia that they had gathered to deliver good news to the Somali people.

He announced that Turkish Airlines’ direct flights to Mogadishu will begin, with the first flight departing Istanbul on March 6 and the return flight from Mogadishu to Istanbul on March 7.

Torun noted that flights will initially operate twice a week but may increase based on passenger demand.

He emphasized that the start of these flights will coincide with improvements in Somalia’s situation and that ticket sales have already begun online. Torun added, “With these flights, especially businessmen and traders will be able to travel more easily, which will positively impact the economy. The launch of Turkish Airlines flights will be beneficial for Somalia in many ways.”
