Ankara, April 13, 2013 (Anadolu Agency – Prime Ministry / Yasin Bülbül) — The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Somaliland signed the historic Ankara Declaration during a meeting held under the auspices of Türkiye.

In a first-of-its-kind gathering, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo came together at the Prime Ministry Official Residence, with the participation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The declaration reaffirms both sides’ commitment to continuing dialogue and peaceful engagement. Türkiye’s role as a neutral facilitator was emphasized, aiming to support peace and stability in the region through constructive diplomacy.
