Somalia’s first Senate building, constructed with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), was officially inaugurated in a ceremony held in the capital, Mogadishu.

The new facility, built to serve the country’s upper house of parliament, marks a significant milestone in Somalia’s political and institutional development.

The opening ceremony was attended by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, numerous government officials and members of parliament, along with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Mogadishu, Olgan Bekar.

The project is part of Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to support Somalia’s state-building and democratic governance through infrastructure development and capacity-building initiatives.
