Amid severe drought conditions in central and southern Somalia, thousands of citizens are facing the threat of hunger and disease. The Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılayı) responded to the crisis by visiting the Bay region, where displaced Somalis are struggling to survive in makeshift tents in Baydhabo camp.

The Turkish Red Crescent delegation, led by Director General Mehmet Güllüoğlu, met with the President of Somalia’s South West State and former Speaker of Parliament, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden (right), to assess the situation and coordinate humanitarian assistance.

The visit underscores Türkiye’s continued commitment to supporting Somalia during humanitarian emergencies, particularly in the face of worsening drought and displacement.
