President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the bilateral meeting, held on September 24, 2019, the two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation between Turkey and Somalia in various fields, including development, education, health, and security. The meeting underscored Turkey’s continued commitment to supporting Somalia’s stability, reconstruction, and development efforts.

President Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s solidarity with the Somali people, highlighting the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations. President Farmajo, in turn, expressed his gratitude for Turkey’s consistent support and humanitarian contributions since 2011.

The meeting reflects the growing strategic partnership between Turkey and Somalia on both regional and international platforms.
