A Turkish A400M military cargo plane carrying medical supplies, including locally-produced intensive care ventilators, has arrived in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, to support the country’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aid delivery was received at the airport by Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Isse Awad, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Hamza Said Hamza, Minister of Health Fowziya Abikar, and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Mogadishu Mehmet Yılmaz.

The shipment, sent by Türkiye upon the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reflects Türkiye’s continued commitment to global solidarity and humanitarian support, especially in Africa. Somalia was the first foreign country to receive Türkiye’s domestically manufactured ventilators earlier in the pandemic.

This latest delivery reaffirms the strong ties between Türkiye and Somalia and demonstrates Türkiye’s ongoing support for Somalia’s healthcare system and pandemic response.
