Since the devastating drought of 2011, the Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılay) has played a vital role in supporting the most vulnerable communities in Somalia, including the poor, orphans, and people with disabilities.
Operating primarily in the capital Mogadishu, as well as across various regions of the country, Türk Kızılay consistently delivers humanitarian aid provided by Turkish donors. One of its key initiatives is a soup kitchen in Mogadishu, where 3,150 people receive hot meals daily.
This life-saving program is part of the broader humanitarian mission Türkiye launched following the 2011 famine. Türk Kızılay’s continued presence and daily operations contribute to rebuilding hope and dignity among Somali communities, reaffirming Türkiye’s long-term commitment to sustainable aid and human-centered development in the region.
