A new group of 500 Somali soldiers officially began their duties following a graduation ceremony held at the TURKSOM Military Training Base in the capital, Mogadishu.
The ceremony was attended by Somali government officials, military representatives, and Turkish dignitaries. The soldiers completed their comprehensive military training under the supervision of Turkish instructors.
Established in 2017, the TURKSOM base was founded to train Somali National Army personnel and strengthen Somalia’s defense capacity as part of the military cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia. The base has since become a cornerstone in Somalia’s efforts to build a professional and effective army.
